I was only a middle school student when I started shooting films for school projects. Since then my passion grew bigger and bigger. I not only make short films, but I also personally work on all processes including script writing, shooting, and video/sound editing. I believe that film is a very strong communication tool and my favorite way to express my feelings and perspective creatively.

I was born in İstanbul/Türkiye in 2007.

I was only a middle school student when I started shooting films for school projects. Since then my passion grew bigger and bigger. I not only make short films, but I also personally work on all processes including script writing, shooting, and video/sound editing. I believe that film is a very strong communication tool and my favorite way to express my feelings and perspective creatively. I enjoy watching fictional movies and TV series, but even in my younger years it has never been a leisure activity for me, that I forgot about when I turned off the TV. Analyzing characters, building relation with real life events, predicting the plot through foreshadowing, and thinking on subthemes and underlying meanings has always been exciting to me. My future goal is to improve myself as much as I can during my education and consequently, to create films that grab the audience’s attention, give a message, and make an impact by urging them to question, even after the film ends.

After I discovered my passion in middle school, I was lucky that I had the chance to improve myself in high school, by enrolling in the IB diploma programme and choosing Film Studies as one of my HL subjects. Honestly, this has been a real challenge. In our school the IB programme begins in 10th grade instead of 11th and I am also required to complete the national high school curriculum on top of IB. Taking IB level exams in 10th grade is not easy, but I am very happy with my decision as I am learning so much about film, and how to think and express myself creatively with the help of all my IB lessons. Even in one school term, the programme boosted my knowledge and perspective.

In 9th grade, I started to shoot fictional and longer short films, which are quite different from my middle school work. I have a Fuji Film XS-20 Digital Camera and I use several editing programs such as Filmora, Davinci Resolve. I work on all aspects myself, from script to editing. I have learned a lot beyond filmmaking in the process, in the future I would like to work with peers who are dedicated. I believe, with our different perspectives, we can bring much better work to life.

My first fictional work, ” Captive” / (“Tutsak”), was a short film about a young boy and his mother’s mysterious story. In 9th grade I participated in the 20th Altinboga International Short Film Festival at Istanbul Erkek High School and came 3rd in the competition.

I continue to create stories, turn them into films and participate in contests.

I want to continue on this way by improving myself in filmmaking.
